Accutane for Mild but Persistent Acne: Final Update

After eight long months, I can finally say: I’M DONE WITH ACCUTANE! If you’ve been following along my journey, you’ll know why I decided to take Accutane (or Zenatane, to be more specific) for my mild but persistent acne, and how I felt about it a few months into the experience. I had originally filmed a seven-month update, but for some reason, it got flagged on YouTube. Say what? *shrugs* Who knows? Anyway, I am so glad I finally got around to filming and uploading my final thoughts on the whole process! I was on the prescription from May-December 2014, even though I was originally supposed to take it for about six months. The two additional months were necessary, however, and I’m glad I stuck with it.

Though to most people around me, the results are not all that noticeable, to me, they are definitely significant. I can’t believe that not even a year ago, I had cystic-like acne, especially on my chin, and blemishes that never really seemed to go away no matter what I tried. No amount of makeup seemed to make a difference. I only wish I hadn’t waited so long to give Isotretinoin a try. Of course, it’s certainly not for everyone, but for me, it was a good and worthwhile treatment.

Fingers crossed that for the long-term, this treatment continues to be a more permanent solution. I know I’ll still have blemishes here and there and that I can still work on improving the quality of my skin, but CHEERS for overall clear skin and confidence! Thank you to all who stuck around and supported me through the long (and annoying) process.

I’ve been saying YES a lot recently.

Yes to opportunity, to friendship, to family, to changes. And even though I eventually will need to say NO for my own sanity, I’m welcoming this period of saying yes with open arms. It has led to some pretty unique and exciting opportunities and I am really looking forward to what lies ahead.

One thing I am committed to saying yes to is being my best self and that involves taking the best care of myself that I can. That’s where YES TO Carrots comes in. I was really fortunate to have received the entire YES TO Carrots Fragrance Free skincare line to try out and to incorporate in my everyday beauty routine. I had heard about the brand from browsing the Target aisles and was really interested in trying out the products after reading many posts by a former Yes to Stylista, Annelise from Aunie Sauce. So when I heard from YES TO Carrots (via Linqia), I was thrilled to have this experience and to share my honest thoughts with you. YES TO Carrots has recently launched a new campaign, encouraging people to say #YESTOGREATLOVE as part of their #YESTOMOVEMENT project! This may mean spending time with your kids, making the extra effort to plan date night, or just curling up on the couch with a good book. Whatever it is you love, start saying yes to it more often. I know I will be saying yes to more time with friends and yes to networking events.

Here’s what I received:

I have recently gotten into cleansing towelettes, especially for taking off makeup. I thought that the YTC towelettes were really gentle and soft. I would use these more for cleansing rather than removing makeup.

I am a major fan of the YTC Daily Facial Moisturizer! I love that this thick lotion applies easily and dries quickly, maintaining its moisture for hours.

In the past, I have strayed away from using cream cleansers because they usually dry out my skin and make my face feel tight. I was pretty pleased with the YTC cream cleanser, however, and did not experience these results! My face felt clean but hydrated.

It’s nice to have a YTC exfoliating cleanser for weekly washes. I enjoyed the texture and my face did not feel dry after cleansing.

Lastly, I’ve never really used a night cream, but this YTC hydrating cream has convinced me it’s time! I loved that this product was working overnight to keep my face hydrated without feeling greasy.

Have you tried any YES TO Carrots products? I enjoyed the fragrance free line and will definitely consider purchasing in the future.
