Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am so thankful for each and every one of you for reading, commenting, supporting, understanding, challenging, and conversing with me. I love this blog more than I can possibly say and I love connecting with all of you! You make all of this time and effort worth it.
In light of the holiday, Ashlie and I decided to do our FIRST vlog (video blog) to share with all of you. After seeing Kristin’s vlog the other day, inspired by Savannah (from the ever-fabulous blog Maidae), we felt like it was the perfect opportunity to try out vlogging AND discuss our favorite parts about this beautiful “sweater weather” we are currently in.
I must warn you, the video IS rather long…sorry…we have a lot to talk about! So if you’d rather skip ahead to your favorite question, check out the time stamp below. AND for your convenience, we’ve included links to all of the products we discussed so you can check them out if you’re interested.

When I wore this outfit to work the other day, my colleague said she thought I looked like British royalty. Off to play polo with my chums, cheerio! I was really flattered, but in the back of my mind, I definitely thought I looked like a fairly chic nerd, and that’s the way I like it! I’ll own my nerd status any day ;)
With it being so cold out recently, I wanted to layer up in style. By layering an oxford, sweater vest, and blazer, I was nice and toasty and felt very stylish and professional. While I don’t define my style as preppy, I definitely wear preppy elements on a regular basis because it’s always classic, flattering, and put-together.
This is the first time I’ve debuted my glasses on the blog! I only wear them for distance, mostly for driving or if I’m at a concert or movie. I had to throw them on for this post though because I feel extra smart in them. :)
I hope everyone has been safe and sound this week. The weather has been so crazy here, giving our local schools their first snow day of the year. I had a blast hanging out with Ashlie yesterday on her day off; I really treasure those moments when there are no obligations or things to take care of–just simply fun quality time. She also helped me with a surprise that I will debut soon on the blog . . . it’s probably not that big of a deal, but it is to me! I’m really happy with how it turned out. Anyway, be careful out there! Thanksgiving in T-minus ONE DAY!

It’s no surprise that I’m a big fan of statement necklaces. Last spring, I shared my “collection” and I’ve just added a new piece. I don’t have much gold jewelry and I had been looking for a black necklace for a while now, so when I saw this twisted beaded necklace at LOFT, I knew I had to make the purchase.
For its debut, I went a more casual route with layers and black denim. I’ve been doing a lot of layering recently because I’ve been slightly unhappy with my current wardrobe, so remixing is a must. Accessories like this necklace (or a scarf) help make an old wardrobe fresh.
I’m having a hard time believing it is Thanksgiving week already! It’s the first Thanksgiving I won’t be home until after and for only a few days. AND it’s the first Black Friday I’ve ever worked. I’m oddly looking forward to it, but I will definitely miss getting up early to shop with my mom. I’ll be sporting this necklace and a new fabulous black top I can’t wait to show you! What are your plans for Thanksgiving/Black Friday?

Brrr! It’s been SO cold recently! I can’t even stand it. I am so not used to dressing for January weather in the middle of November. But luckily, I have a brand new knitted scarf that I purchased from my friend Laura from Forever Above Me, one of the masterminds behind Cozy Cat Crafts. I love this scarf because it’s a warm snood in the perfect neutral beige.

I paired this scarf with a beige and black striped tank, black cardigan, skinny jeans, and boots (currently on sale!). I topped it off with a skinny black belt because the tank is a little voluminous and boxy. I plan on taking it in at some point, but instead of never wearing it, I’m trying to find simple solutions for my wardrobing issues.
I don’t always wear all-neutral outfits, but I think they’re a good go-to when you don’t know what else to wear. I recently posed a question on Facebook when I was stuck about upcoming blog posts and someone suggested I discuss this particular topic. Perhaps I’ll address it more head-on in the future, but I am a huge advocate for the Patterned Blouse + Cardigan + Jeans + Accessory = Successful Outfit formula. Certainly interchange the cardigan for a blazer, the jeans for cords, and change-up the accessory to fit your style, season, and occasion. If you aren’t sure what color palette to go with, stick with neutrals and you can’t go wrong.
