PANTONE-Inspired Spring Color Challenge: Day 2: African Violet

It’s day two of the PANTONE challenge! You can read about the color challenge here and see yesterday’s outfits, featuring emerald, here. Today’s color is African Violet–a gorgeous spring hue. I only had a simple violet tee in my wardrobe, but I was able to make it very versatile for this spring. I hope to incorporate this color more in the future.

Tee: Target
Blazer: Calvin Klein (Macy’s)
Cropped pants: Goodwill
Jeans: Old Navy
Necklace: NY & Company
Scarf: Pashima kiosk
Wedges: T.J. Maxx
Flats: Target

I am actually quite surprised with how the first look turned out because I never really paired such a plain, casual tee with my interview jacket and coordinating slacks. But with the necklace, cropped pants,  and rolled up sleeves, it is totally a relaxed professional. The jeans outfit is what I changed into after work to do some errands. I think I am in need of some sort of floral scarf! Any suggestions on where to find a cute one for a good price?

Want to join in the fun? Pick a top, bottom, accessory, or pair of shoes in the color for the day and show off your spring colors with us! We will be linking up to Heidi’s blog this Monday and Tuesday (today) and here at The Modern Austen for Wednesday-Friday.

We are so excited for this link party and encourage all of you to participate! Don’t have all of the colors? That’s okay! Just participate whenever you can. Don’t have a blog? Don’t sweat it! We’d love to see your comments of how you wore your color and you could email us your photos, too. At the end of the week, Heidi and I will pick our favorite looks from the week and feature them in a wrap-up post!

PANTONE-Inspired Spring Color Challenge: Day 1: Emerald

Today is the day–the FIRST day of Heidi and my’s PANTONE-Inspired Spring Color Challenge. If you haven’t been in on the scoop yet, here’s the details. Today’s color is Emerald, the color of the year.
Emerald Blazer Yellow Tank Khaki Slacks 1
Emerald Blazer Yellow Top Khaki Slacks 2
Blazer: H&M
Tank: Land’s End
Pants: Express (Goodwill)
Wedges: T. J. Maxx
I realize that my “emerald” is a bit more teal, but I felt that the emerald Pantone chose has a hint of blue in it anyway. I really liked this color combination and I guess I covered THREE of the spring colors in this outfit alone: Emerald, Lemon Zest, and Linen! I always felt like emerald was more of a fall/winter color, but when paired with spring colors, it can totally work year-round.

Want to join in? Pick a top, bottom, accessory, or pair of shoes in the color for the day and show off your spring colors with us! We will be linking up to Heidi’s blog today and tomorrow and here at The Modern Austen for Wednesday-Friday.

Today I’m linking up with Fran along with other Budgeting Bloggers. By sharing our monthly fashion purchases, we are able to stay under budget and hold each other accountable. Visit my amazing March purchases here!

I didn’t do too shabby this month! I am really happy with all of my purchases, especially those from Goodwill. I was really lucky last weekend to score a bunch of items at once. I did better than last month and I may even take back the maxi skirt listed above if I can’t find a way to wear it and still feel comfortable.

I’m hoping that I can slow down the clothes purchasing soon or get rid of some of my unworn items. Have you checked out my closet on Poshmark? I have a pile of clothes I hope to add to it soon.

Also, have you put together your spring outfits yet in preparation for Heidi and my’s PANTONE-Inspired Spring Color Challenge? It starts on MONDAY! :) I can’t wait!

There is just something so SPRING-Y about these outfits that just made me feel so…pretty! I love the sweet pastels and lightness of spring colors and flowers and it is super feminine. Ashlie and I had a quick photoshoot after work and had a hilarious time trying to use my remote without a tripod. Don’t you love our prom pose, by the way?

At around 3:15 today, you can bet that Ashlie and I are throwing our hands in the air in joy because it’s FRIDAY!!!!!! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend. Even though I don’t want to go back to work on Monday, I am super excited about the debut of my and Heidi’s PANTONE-inspired Spring Color Challenge! Are YOU up for the challenge?
